Start to Hayfever Season

Immunisations and vaccinations are a cornerstone for prevention of many infectious diseases, and an important part of the management of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Similarly certain members of the community may be recommended different vaccine schedules or doses based on their unique underlying medical conditions.

We are very happy to discuss patients’ specific vaccination requirements, including recommending and facillitating alternate schedules and boosters optimised to their condition.

Along with successfully priming your immune system, there are a range of common side-effects to be expected as part of the vaccination process. We are keen to discuss and manage previous vaccine-associated symptoms to re-assure patients so as they can safely participate in vaccines & immunisations recommend to protect them, their families, and the wider community.

For patients requesting formal vaccine exemptions - these are best managed through the Victorian Specialist Immunisation Service (VicSIS)

After the "Thunderstorm Asthma Event" on 21st November 2016 - Melbourne suddenly had very high numbers of people developing acute breathing difficulties due to asthma flares.  

Red itchy rashes that come on within minutes and go in hours, often rightly prompt people to consider allergy as a cause.

Due to popular demand we are opening a special Saturday morning Food Allergy Clinic for school-aged children.  

We are pleased to announce a new location for Avid Allergy at the Epworth Specialist Centre - Berwick, and are looking forward to being able to provide a more convenient service to eastern Melbourne and Victoria.  

We are excited to announce that a new CBD location for Avid Allergy is coming in March 2014. 

A hot tip for summer: 

Store your moisturiser and other creams in the fridge.  When applied directly from the fridge, the cooling effect is very soothing.

The official Melbourne Pollen Count is now over for 2013.  This service is provided by the University of Melbourne, and many of our patients have followed the daily count over the hay fever season.
